Alteration Information
Seamstress selection will be based on your availability in conjunction with the seamstress’s schedule and the type of gown being altered. If you require a specific seamstress please be aware a specific schedule may be required.
Bridal and Bridesmaids usually require 2 – 3 fittings.
Informal fitting. This type of fitting is optional and best if you are planning to have your alterations done elsewhere or your if gown arrives far in advance. No seamstress is present. You will try the dress on with a sales associate and discuss what types of alterations, undergarments, shoes, and jewelry you may need… From here you can take your gown, schedule an official fitting, or store your gown with us so it can be pressed and picked up the week of the wedding.
Official fitting - first. This is the first time you will try the gown on with a seamstress present. Because your hem will most likely be adjusted at this fitting please have your shoes and or a heel height available. If you require undergarments please bring the appropriate undergarment with you. Your gown will be pinned in preparation for your alteration. You will be provided with a price quote and second fitting appointment. You will also be required to pay the balance of your gown.
Official fitting - second. All previous alterations will be checked and if necessary, adjusted. It is possible you could need an additional fitting following this one. If so, it will be scheduled. If not we will schedule a time, usually the week of the wedding, to have your gown picked up. It will be pressed and prepped free of charge. At this time you will be required to pay your alterations via CASH or CHECK to your seamstress. Any outstanding Wedding Embassy balances will be discussed and paid.
Custom Clients: Please note you may need additional fittings, no less than 3 and, on average, up to 6.
Children/Jr’s/Flower Girls: Please be aware you may need to account for the same amount of fitting time and alteration cost for a child as you would for an adult.
Alteration Pricing & Fees
If you purchased your gown with us, your alteration prices will be capped; this is consistent for all seamstresses. Brides will pay no more than $200*, Bridesmaids no more than $80*.
*This price does not include hand beading or cups purchased direct from your seamstress. Customer-requested specialized alterations (i.e.: similar to, but not limited to, alterations such as making/adding thicker straps, sashes, fill in bust line…etc.) may incur additional fees.
If you did not purchase your gown with us, your alteration prices will be based on what needs to be done and then base construction of your garment. Our seamstresses will base pricing on our shop’s main price chart. Please note a Shop Fee will be added to the price of your alteration, $10 for Bridal, $5 for Bridesmaids, Moms, Flower Girls… etc.
We prefer you to pay your seamstress at your last fitting with cash or check. If you choose to use Visa or MasterCard you will incur a $5.00 service fee. Thanks.
